Art Show by Nancy Noel May

Friday, September 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

“The Art of Nancy Noel May” opens at the Burgwin-Wright House on Fourth Friday Gallery Night and will hang until November 18 . The show also includes a pop-up exhibit, featuring items used by 18th and 19th century cooks.

Local artist Nancy Noel Mays two months-long show will open with a reception from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on September 22 and will remain on display through November 18.

May has loved to paint for as long as she can remember. Her art is heavily influenced by her coastal upbringing on the Chesapeake Bay and living in Wilmington as an adult.

The impressionistic style of her paintings along with the clear, vibrant colors, and clarity of light gives an easygoing beach vibe that resonates with many Wilmingtonians.

Coinciding with Mays artwork will be a pop-up exhibit of unique kitchen items from the 18th and 19th century. Items such as one-handed rolling pins, wafer irons, butter molds, and sugar nippers will be on display; giving visitors a rare look into the everyday lives of women during these time periods. The one-handed rolling pin hints at a life of constant multitasking for the women who worked in the kitchen.
